Important update on Westwood Park
Now that Westwood Park’s construction is complete, we’d like to bring your attention to a few important items.
Signs are up in the turfed areas requesting that the seed is not disturbed while it grows. Please stay off the seeded areas until we remove the signage. This will ensure that seed germinates and the grass thrives.
We also installed new signs at the entrance of the loop path. These remind residents not to use regulation-sized cricket balls in the practice cricket pitch. Also, dogs must be leashed at all times and picked up after. Please respect the park rules, which are in place for everyone’s safety and wellbeing.
You may have noticed water pooling in the park between the two entrances. This area is an infiltration gallery. Its purpose is to collect and hold water from the site while it drains into the soil, a process called infiltration. Sometimes the water drains slowly, so if you see water pooling there, do not be alarmed. That area of the park is functioning as intended.
We hope you enjoy the new and upgraded Westwood Park. Your patience and understanding have been greatly appreciated.
This project is complete and the park is now open for use. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the redesign of the park. If you have any questions, please contact the Parks division at parks@kitchener.ca or 519-741-2345 (TTY:1-866-969-9994).
