Westheights Family Memories
When we moved to the area in 1990 we began taking our 2 year old daughter and newborn son to the pond, walking the trails and marvelling in the woodlands. Now that we have young grandchildren we're enjoying the pleasure of taking them along the same paths that have filled in tremendously, providing even more cover for birds and critters, then stopping at the pond to see the wildlife. While feeding the ducks is no longer permitted, we still enjoy showing our grandkids the waterfowl guiding their families around, listening to blackbirds sing and frogs croak, and seeing squirrels and chipmunks merrily chase each other. Hopefully more residents will come to appreciate this beautiful oasis of nature in the middle of our city.
Improvements to the pond and surrounding areas can certainly be made; it's incumbent on community members to provide constructive input so future generations can also partake in this calming natural landscape.
