Notice of Project and virtual Public Information Centre
Please be advised that the City of Waterloo intend to construct a multi-use trail (MUT) along the Hydro One Corridor. The MUT will extend approximately 450m between St. Moritz Avenue in the east, and the west boundary of Generation Park, formerly known as the West Side Employment Lands (WSEL) to the west. The map below illustrates the extents of the proposed works.
The intent of the project is to provide a mid-block connection between the existing residential, institutional, and green space areas east of the Hydro One corridor to the developing commercial, residential and industrial areas in Generation Park.
The City has retained AECOM to provide engineering services for the design of this project. The construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the summer of 2023.
The proposed design drawings along with additional information related to the project will be available online for review and comment beginning on January 30, 2022. The drawings and information can be accessed on this site. Information available on the site includes:
- Background information on the project
- A project schedule
- A section for providing comments
The public will be able to provide feedback on the proposed design until February 17, 2023. This feedback will be taken into consideration by the Project Team prior to finalizing the construction drawings.
The City understands that not all interested residents may have access to the Engage Waterloo website; accommodations for reviewing the design alternatives and associated information can be arranged by contacting the undersigned.
