Loose Leaf Collection

Please be advised that due to on-going construction, loose leaf collection on Waterloo Street will not be occurring between November 4 and 8 as noted on the City’s website and on local signage. Leaf collection will occur after road asphalt is placed. Road asphalt is currently anticipated for late in the week of November 18, 2024. Leaf collection on adjacent streets such as Roger Street or Moore Avenue is not affected by construction and will be collected as per the City’s schedule.

In the interim, residents on Waterloo Street are asked to keep any leaves from boulevard trees on a portion of your lawn or property that has not been disturbed by construction. Any areas of lawn disturbed by construction will need to be prepared for new topsoil and sod following asphalt placement. Some disturbed areas that need new topsoil and sod may be missed if buried under piles of leaves.

Alternatively, leaves can be bagged and put out with your other waste bins on weeks when the Region’s yard waste collection is occurring. Leaf bags will be moved to an appropriate collection location by the contractor, similar to how other waste bins are collected. For more information on leaf collection by the City and by the Region, please see the City’s website at the link below:

Once the asphalt roadway is in place, residents will be notified of the date on which leaf pickup will occur. The City will attempt to give residents as much notice as possible for leaf collection. Residents will be asked to rake all boulevard tree leaves into the roadway and gutter. Please keep leaves on the road and off the boulevard. This will keep boulevards clear for topsoil and sod placement.
