Consultation has concluded.

Thank you to those who answered the survey. The outcome proved to be inconclusive, and therefore staff will need additional time to undertake further engagement. This delay in the outcome around the possible renaming of the park will not affect the timing of the park upgrades, which are taking place independently.

Uniroyal-Goodrich Park is one of our city's central greenspaces, offering neighbours in the Guelph Street area a place to gather and get to know each other better.

Your input is important to us!

We are asking the community for feedback on the renaming of Uniroyal-Goodrich Park.

This survey should take about 2 minutes to complete.

We encourage you to submit your completed surveys by June 14, 2019.

Welcome to the City of Kitchener's survey on the renaming of Uniroyal-Goodrich Park!

Your input here will help us determine whether or not to rename the park.

    Background:

As you may know, the City is currently in the process of revitalizing Uniroyal Goodrich Park with construction expected to take place in 2019. During the community consultation process, we had a number of requests to rename the park. One suggestion was that the park be named after the Hiller family, who owned the land within which the current park is located from 1949 – 1972. A three-bedroom home was built by Gordon Hiller on the current parkland, and he and his wife Helen lived and raised their fourteen children there until they moved and the land was subsequently sold to Uniroyal Goodrich in 1972.

This proposed name of Hiller Park complies with the City of Kitchener Facility Naming/Renaming Policy (I-475) in that it identifies a historical significance that recognizes an individual or family, such as the original landowner.
