Rockway Centre Redevelopment

The Rockway Centre is Kitchener’s only dedicated older adult community centre. It offers a place for residents to come together, socialize, and take part in a wide variety of programs and activities designed specifically for them.

Unfortunately, the current building is outdated and needs to be replaced. It wasn’t originally designed as a community centre and doesn’t fully meet the diverse needs of our older adult population. To better serve our community now and in the future, we need a new, modern older adult centre.

Our vision for the new centre is to create a welcoming, accessible, and modern space. It would include amenities like:

• a gym
• multi-purpose rooms with safe and appropriate flooring
• fully accessible washrooms
• inviting areas for socializing
• spaces for activities like music, billiards, and cards

We’ve already spoken with over 140 individuals from various groups associated with Rockway Centre. Now we need your input to ensure the new facility better meets your needs and provides a warm, inclusive space to call your own. We will use your contributions to create a list of essential criteria for the future developer of the site.
