This project has concluded. The traffic calming measures were installed, and responses from residents suggested no further action was needed. If you have any questions, please contact TransportationPlanning@kitchener.ca.
In 2018, we initiated a formal traffic calming review for Patricia Avenue. This was in response to resident concerns about road safety. As a result of this review, the following traffic calming measures were installed on Patricia Avenue in 2019 after resident support and Council approval:
A speed hump located between Jack Avenue and Sandra Avenue.
A speed hump located at the trail crossing between Metzloff Drive and Highland Road West.
A Level 2 - Type D pedestrian crossover built into the speed hump at the trail crossing. This type of crossover includes regulatory and warning signage, as well as pavement markings.
In October 2021, we collected traffic volume and speed data on Patricia Avenue. That data was compared to the data taken prior to the initiation of the traffic calming review in the fall of 2017.
Neighbourhood participation has been essential throughout the traffic calming process. At this point, we would like your feedback on the effects of the traffic calming on Patricia Avenue. Please complete the follow-up survey below (via the Survey tool), before March 18, 2022.
If you have any questions or would like a paper copy of the survey, please reach out to Steven Ryder, Traffic Planning Analyst (contact information found in the Who's Listening widget on the right side of the page).
