Noise By-law Review
The City of Cambridge is conducting a review of our Noise By-law, which sets restrictions on the types of noise permitted in the City, when that noise is allowed, as well as noise exemption permits.
We want to hear from our community!
By completing this five (5) minute survey, your feedback will help staff develop a recommendation to improve the City's Noise By-law and ensure that Cambridge continues to be a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable community for all. The survey will close on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
If you would like the survey in an alternate format, please submit your request to John Mattocks, Manager of Municipal By-law Compliance at 519-623-1340 extension 4501 or mattocksj@cambridge.ca.

Camella asked about 1 year agoHello, Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Please reach out to us by phone at 519-623-1340 extension 7907 or email us at bylaw@cambridge.ca. Staff will require some information such as the address that is creating the noise and we will have a Municipal By-law Compliance Officer conduct an investigation. If you would like to report this after hours, we recommend calling the Waterloo Regional Police Service non-emergency number 519-570-9777 and they will dispatch a Municipal By-law Compliance Officer to investigate.

Jamie Taylor asked about 1 year agoThank you for the question! Vehicle noise complaints have been on the rise over the past few years. As part of the Noise By-law review we are considering regulations around unnecessary vehicle noise which could include the operation of a motor vehicle without an effective exhaust muffling device in proper working order.

Share I have a neighbour who turns his car on on 545am each morning before work. The muffler they have on it make a sound as loud as a lawn mower. Can something be done to curb this?
