This project supports the Region of Waterloo's strategic focus area(s):

Photo showing the existing layout of Myers RoadThe Region of Waterloo is working to improve Myers Road from Water Street to Branchton Road, in the City of Cambridge.

This project will:

  • Address the deteriorated pavement condition.
  • Urbanize the corridor with storm sewer and curbs to improve drainage and help reduce traffic speeds.
  • Improve cycling and pedestrian facilities.

Engagement
The first public engagement (Public Consultation Centre) for this project was held in April 2019, at which time we presented a preferred design and asked for public input. At the second public meeting in 2021, we shared the preferred design concept for Myers Road based on feedback received from the first public consultation. The Information Package and drawings showing the Preferred Design Concept are available in the Document Library.

We will be installing a raised pedestrian crossing on Myers Road east of Lorraine Drive at the existing traffic signal. The raised pedestrian crossing includes pavement markings, signage, and a “speed hump” to provide greater visibility of the crossing area and help slow down traffic. Construction will start on August 12, 2024 and finish by August 30, 2024. Myers Road between Lorraine Drive and Greenbrier Road will be fully closed to through traffic for the duration of the work. Only local access will be permitted. For more information, please visit the Region's website.
