This slide will talk about the planting plan.

There are four planting zones throughout the park. All zones include native plants.

The Forest Restoration Zone is around the outside of the trail. This zone will include dense grouping of trees and shrubs of a variety of ages and growth rates. Large trees and shrubs will be planted in the centre. Fast-growing tree and shrub seedlings around the outer ring to improve growing conditions. This will help to improve forest growth.

The Pollinator Planting Zone is throughout the park. This zone includes different types of perennial plants. These plants will attract pollinators throughout the growing season. One of the planting areas will include plants relocated from the existing pollinator garden.

The Pond Bank Restoration Zone is on the slopes of the pond. This includes fast-growing trees and shrubs that will be a dense cover on the slopes.

The Aquatic Planting Zone is in the water and on the bottom edge of the slope. These are plants that love being wet and will help to improve water quality.

A strip of grass is on either side of the trail. The City will mow on both sides of the pathway to create a clean edge and prevent vegetation from blocking the path. Mount Frederick and the rest of the park will be mown grass as it is right now.

The next video will show cross-sections of the pond and park.
