The construction is now complete, and the project has entered the maintenance phase. This means we will inspect all aspects of the work done to ensure that it meets our standards. We will also address any deficiencies. Once this phase is complete, we will add a final layer of surface asphalt. This is usually about two years from the start of maintenance. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Engineering division at 519-741-2345 or engineering@kitchener.ca

Are there any plans to include traffic calming measures?

MichelleS asked about 2 years ago

As part of the reconstruction work on McKenzie Avenue, there have proposed a number of traffic calming measures as follows:

    • The roadway width will be narrowed to 7m
    • The boulevard width will be increased to 2.4 - 2.9m on one side of the road and to 1.8 – 2.3m on the other side of the road
    • Curb extension at the intersection of Randerson and McKenzie Ave

The proposed measures are consistent with the City of Kitchener’s Complete Street Guidelines approved by Council and are expected to reduce speeding. Data will be collected after the changes are made and further actions can be taken if data shows that extra measures are needed.
