Love and Care for Kitchener
It doesn't matter how many buildings are built in Kitchener. What matters most is the fact that we have been seen as one of the angriest places around.
It doesn't matter how big or how fabulous a city looks on its outside.
What matters most is the love shared between neighbors and how it is demonstrated.
Crimes of hatred will continue if there isn't something directly done to tell the people that they are all cared about...that no level of racial discrimination is allowed. After all, behind all levels of anger, is fear, and fear of the tremendous level of building the city up at such a short pace, is bound to cause much fear. Immigrating thousands of new people from warn torn countries at such a fantastic race disturbs people to the point where they become fearful and angry.
This is process has gone far too fast. Even I am afraid of taking the bus downtown for fear of racial discrimination and violence!
The only place I feel at home is in my own neighborhood, where I have lived for over thirty years.
An "official plan" can not overlook this fact.
Sincerely,
Caron Joanne Thomas
