In 2020, the Region of Waterloo concluded their Long-Term Population and Housing Growth Analysis, incorporated into the Regional Official Plan, projecting 51,000 people in Woolwich by 2051.

Responding to housing challenges, the Township applied for the Federal Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) in 2023 and secured funding in 2024. In line with these efforts, the Township has engaged Tim Welch Consulting Inc. (TWC) to conduct a comprehensive Housing Needs Assessment.

The objective of this project is to analyze statistical data and pertinent studies to gain insights into the current housing landscape of Woolwich Township. By examining trends and anticipating changes, the assessment aims to identify both immediate and long-term housing needs to support the projected growth. The findings from the Housing Needs Assessment will guide policy formation and allocate resources associated with the HAF project and other housing initiatives within the Township.
