Description: My art is an acrylic painting on an 18” by 36” canvas and is inspired by northern lights as well as water bodies in the Grand River Watershed. The upper portion of the painting is a colored sky that represents power and extreme: an intensity that nature carries in the passage of time and the flow of water. The lower portion shows water bodies adjacent to shallow hills throughout the Region of Waterloo. These lands convey nutrient-rich rain water and snowmelt to support the ecosystem health of the Grand River.  Category: 18+ years old Biography: My name is Matthew Pendleton, I am an artist in Kitchener. I a mixed-media artist with works including poetry and music composition. I am a PhD student researcher at the University of Waterloo, specializing in water resources and hydrogeology.
