Deer Ridge Drive: Traffic Calming Follow-Up Review

In 2019, we initiated a formal traffic calming review for Deer Ridge Drive. This was in response to resident concerns about road safety on Deer Ridge Drive. As a result of this review, the following traffic calming measures were installed on Deer Ridge Drive in 2021 after resident support and Council approval: 

• A speed cushion located between Winifred Street and Master Court
• A mid-block roadway narrowing located between Lantern Street and Fall Harvest Drive
• A speed cushion located between Deer Ridge Drive and Terrace Wood Drive

In July 2022, we collected traffic volume and speed data on Deer Ridge Drive. That data was compared to the data taken prior to the initiation of the traffic calming review in 2019.

*The 85^th percentile speed is the speed at which 85% of vehicles are traveling at or below.

Note that new data was collected between Lantern Crescent and Fall Harvest Drive. This data point was included in the review to help determine if a consistent 85^th percentile speed is being achieved through the traffic calmed area.
