A new neighbourhood spray pad is coming to Blue Beech Link!

This spray pad will be one of four distributed across the city to provide more accessible summer activities for children, as outlined in the Recreation and Leisure Services Master Plan. The area will include a public washroom, shaded areas and seating.

    Council has officially approved the funding and contract for building this spray pad, which will include shade structures and seating. The project was designed and tendered with the Eastbridge Green spray pad to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies. Construction is expected to begin this fall, with the goal of being complete in time for the summer 2025 splash pad season.

    This was approved during the Oct 21 Council Meeting (details on page 60).

    This project is currently in its final approval phase from the site plan and utility providers. Once approved, the project will be tendered and awarded to a contractor who will begin construction. The targeted opening date is still set for Spring/Summer 2025!

    Thank you to everyone who voted for the spray pad design at Blue Beech Link. We received over 200 votes and the winning design is Option 2. This design includes classic elements including spray loops and a large dumping bucket. Features include a dynamic spinning water curtain, misting jets, directional jets and ground sprays that can be automated and controlled with a push-button activator.

    The tendering of this project will happen this fall, with construction taking place between winter and spring.

    The new spray pad will be set to open in the summer of 2024!
