A new design for Alpine Park
This project is complete and the park is now open for use. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the redesign of thepark. If you have any questions, please contact the Parks division at parks@kitchener.ca or 519-741-2345 (TTY:1-866-969-9994).
Alpine Park is an existing park in the Alpine neighbourhood that has a small wooded area, play equipment and is linked by a trail network to two adjacent school properties. The wooded area is an incredible asset to this park space and a focal point within the neighbourhood. Consultants from SHIFT Landscape Architecture have been engaged to lead the redevelopment of this park including conceptual design, final design, through to construction completion.

Aprilover 2 years agoConcept 1 looks best
I prefer concept 1. I think the flow is better and the focal point is the playground which is most used. Love the shaded area next to the playground and the seating. Garden spots and potential rink area are a great location. Very excited about this!

Would there be any way of being able to enlarge the wording that is on these Concepts. Unfortunately they are too small for me to read. I did click on enlarge but it did not seem to make a difference

I think option 1 uses the whole space of the park better than option 2. And for the safety of the children it would be better to have open space away from the road in my opinion.

Please consider the Serviceberry tree when planting native Canadian trees. It is beautiful, attracts lovely birds and produces edible berries. I have eaten them but you have to be quick, the birds love them.

We like concept 1 a lot. It would be nice to have some natural play elements along with the traditional playground, for some variety. I really appreciate the nice shaded area near the playground.

0 comment0JennPagettover 2 years agoSince a natural play space was just installed on the other side of the forest, play structures and a picnic area would be wonderful!
