Cambridge (proposed) Parks Master Plan 2025-2055

The (proposed) Parks Master Plan is now available for your review. The plan will be reviewed by Council in a workshop scheduled on April 22, 2025. Comments and direction from Council will be received and a final plan and report is anticipated to be presented to Council between 3 and 8 weeks following the workshop.

Thanks to the thousands of people and groups who participated in surveys, interviews, focus groups, public meetings and other consultation opportunities as your ideas were valuable in articulating the levels of service, areas of focus, and proposed recommendations in the Plan.

The Parks Master Plan:

  • inventories what we have, develops new standards, and sets service levels for sportsfields, Neighbourhood and Community Parks, amenities, natural areas, and small public spaces

  • is built on foundations of accessibility, public consultation, levels of service, and equity
  • reflects what we heard through consultation over the past 2 years
  • recommends increasing accessibility, provides amenities such as splash pads in all Community Parks, addresses areas that are underserviced with parkland, and meets the challenges of growth and intensification and a 47% increase in population over the next 30 years
  • provides an “Atlas” of Neighbourhood and Community parks and the amenities and service levels associated with them and also captures what we heard during consultation
  • proposes changes to maintenance practices such as frequency of washroom cleaning, taking care of our natural areas, extending splash pad operating seasons
  • recommends capital budget investments for dog parks, pickleball courts, playgrounds, washrooms, and amenities for all ages including teens and older adults in parks
