Tour of Outdoor Shelter
The Region of Waterloo opened a new outdoor shelter at 1001 Erb’s Road at the end of April.
The shelter has 50 furnished cabins, equipped with electricity, heating and cooling for individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. A main community building provides washrooms, laundry, common space, a kitchen servery, and offices.
The site is staffed 24/7, managed by The Working Centre and includes support services and security. Services provided include mental health and addictions supports, with a focus on connecting residents to permanent housing options.
