The construction of the new pumping station in Willowlake Park, reconstruction of Old Mill Road, and demolition of the old pumping station are now complete. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 519-741-2345 (TTY:1-866-969-9994) or engineering@kitchener.ca
In order to meet future demand and address much needed upgrades to the original station, we are building a new pumping station in Willowlake Park. We are also reconstructing Old Mill Road between Pinnacle and the Old Mill Road bridge.
The project will include three major parts.
- Construction of the new station
- Reconstruction of Old Mill Road
- Decommissioning and demolition of the old station
It will be necessary to close Old Mill Road and portions of Willowlake Park at times during this project. Trails through Willowlake Park will remain open during construction. You will be notified in advance of any road closures.

Hello, the field with the baseball diamond was reseeded this past spring, however, the soil in the field is compacted and stony, the ground uneven, and the seed that has germinated is sparse. The seed mix is also not Kentucky bluegrass (turf grass). The current conditions of the field make it uncomfortable and unsafe to play active sports. Are there further plans to bring in top soil, grade the field and seed with grass or place sod in the field?
We attended the initial planning meeting held at Conestoga College for the construction of a new pump house and a playground structure. We know a new pump house had to be built and as lovely as it is we also need a playground for all the children in the area. Playgrounds get children outside and can build communities as families congregate and have a gathering place to meet their neighbours. We are very disappointed as taxpayers to learn that a new playground is not being constructed.
Hello, will the park (formerly baseball diamond), playground structures and original trail alignment be reconstructed following completion of the pumping station and associated works? Does the City have any plans to improve the amenities in the park (e.g., new playground structure, soccer pitch and baseball diamond)? With thanks, Sal
