Kitchener 2051 Survey

Welcome to the Kitchener 2051 survey! We want to hear how you think our city should grow and evolve over the next 25 years.

Your input will directly influence the development of Kitchener’s new Official Plan, helping our team make decisions about:

  • how and where we grow
  • how we get around
  • how we can address the climate crisis
  • how we can increase prosperity and wellbeing for everyone in Kitchener

Results will be shared in a summary report on the project page.

This survey will take about 30 minutes to fill out if you answer every question..

Section 1: Kitchener 2051 Overall Priorities

We need your help to identify what is most important for our city. This section will gather your input on where the city should focus its efforts to address key challenges. Like many Canadian cities, Kitchener faces challenges like:

  • the climate crisis
  • housing crisis
  • rising income inequality

The new Official Plan can help address these by providing the framework for sustainable, equitable growth in the city. It can do this through:

  • strategic land use
  • transportation
  • climate policies
  • development policies
Act on climate change – Reduce the effects of climate change and help the community adapt to its impacts.
Make it easier to get around without a car – Build new, and improve existing trail networks, and connect more people to public transit.
Create more affordable housing options – Build different types of homes.
Promote community wellbeing – Encourage active lifestyles and foster social connections. Provide more parks, green spaces and places to gather.
Keep costs affordable – For things like roads, pipes, libraries, and schools.
Ensure everyone has fair access – To housing, parks, and community and social services.
