This project supports the Region of Waterloo's strategic focus area(s):

Starting Sept. 4, 2023, we are improving transit service in Cambridge for east Galt, north Galt, and Preston areas. The service expansion will add 18,000 service hours annually.

How is the Cambridge network changing?

  • More direct travel options to major destinations including: Ainslie Terminal, South Cambridge Shopping Centre, Cambridge Centre Station, King/Bishop area and Franklin/Saginaw area.
  • Expanded service to southeast Galt
  • More service on evenings and weekends.
  • Travel distances to some bus stops may be further in order to provide more direct service overall.

    GRT Cambridge preferred network

    Based on feedback received earlier this year, GRT made the following revisions:

    • Added new Route 53A branch to serve the Eastern Industrial Park during weekday peak periods, and late evenings.
    • Revised Route 63 to better serve Alison and Main-McNaughton areas. New Sunday service would be introduced to the Alison area for the first time. 
    • Revised Route 56 to provide residents along Eagle Street and Concession Road direct service to Cambridge Centre Station and Preston Towne Centre.
