Project background

The City of Waterloo is creating an effective Urban Forest Management Strategy through public consultation and engagement. The goal is to assess the current state of Waterloo's urban forest and develop ideas for its management. Feedback and suggestions will inform the strategy to help improve the urban forest as the city grows.

Waterloo is an innovative community that continues to experience growth and change. It strives to be a leader in sustainability and be a future-ready community for all. The consultation process will ensure the Urban Forest Management Strategy accurately reflects the people's interests, values and needs.

One of our strategic priorities is environmental sustainability and climate action. The city must maintain its natural assets, including its trees, in order to help achieve its environmental objectives. Tree/forest management options will be explored to preserve and expand the community's urban forest and canopy to meet its growing needs.
