Franklin Boulevard Improvements

The project team identified the benefits of the preferred design such as: 

-Direct access for pedestrians and cyclists across Franklin Boulevard via the pathway under Franklin Boulevard on the north side. 

-Uninterrupted sightlines through the pathway. 

-Improved safety and security with a high volume of people in the area

-Pedestrians can use the at-grade crossings as an alternative. 

-Improved safety when crossing Franklin Boulevard for people with vision loss.

-Reduced conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles on Saginaw Parkway by limiting the number of entrances, and channeling pedestrians into clearly defined crossing points more visible to drivers.

-Improved active transportation facilities with multi-use paths added along Franklin Boulevard for cyclists and pedestrians.

-Improved intersection traffic flow
