The cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo are looking for your support to develop a Regional Cricket Strategy. This strategy will:

  • chart a path towards responding to community interest in cricket
  • support the growth of the game at a grassroots level
  • work towards a consistent and harmonious provision of cricket facilities

In the last decade the region has witnessed a significant increase in interest in the sport of cricket. Local cricket organizations and community members have expressed concerns about a lack of adequate facilities. Cricket organizations in the Region have expressed concern that the current cricket pitch inventory is not enough to meet demand. But there are limited options for land on which to build additional pitches. Also, demand for cricket must be balanced with other popular field sports.

The Regional Cricket Strategy aims to address these concerns. The Cities have partnered with Optimus SBR, an independent and unbiased third party, to develop the overall strategy.

Earlier in 2024 we held a series of focus groups with representatives from local cricket organizations in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. Now we would like to hear from all members of our community who are involved in cricket, including those who are not affiliated with an organized group.

Whether you use regional facilities or go to other cities and towns, we want to hear from you. Your feedback will help us shape the Cricket Regional Strategy and associated recommendations.
