Which logo is your first choice to be the identifier for the Cambridge 50 Celebrations?

50th Identifier – Short List Explanations

Option 1

This concept utilizes the curving, flowing shapes of the existing City of Cambridge logo to create a new symbol inspired by the conditions of the current City of Cambridge logo. These shapes are interlaced and linked to depict the various communities and people coming together 50 years ago as one. The geometrical orientation of the forms also represents the city’s iconic rivers and bridges.

Option 2

The team took inspiration from the Cambridge logo to create the 50th identifier on a similar angle with the water surrounding the arrangement to achieve the idea of unity and togetherness and celebration. The water is the focus because the river is what brought these communities together in the first place. The river is used to encompass the 50, almost as if it were encompassing the city itself.

Option 3

This identifier was designed to highlight the historical significance of the Speed and Grand rivers for the unification Galt, Hespeler, and Preston by visually representing water flowing around the zero. A circular symbol conveys unity and the ripples of water suggest the energy of the people that make up the city. The design also uses the river to create unity with the existing Cambridge logo.
