Thank you to everyone who participated in the Belmont Village Urban Corridor Study. Your contributions provided valuable insights into what’s important to residents and businesses as Belmont Village grows and evolves over time.
We have completed Phase 1 and a summary report of the engagement is now available. Through Phase 1 we heard comments in five general themes:
- Defining the corridor and disconnect along the corridor
- A successful street vibrancy
- Retail impressions
- Impressions of change
- Mobility and transportation
For more details, read the report.
Next steps
Phase 2 of the Belmont Village Urban Corridor Study will occur through the Kitchener 2051 – Official Plan update project. This will include a review of existing policy documents to ensure the growth framework for Belmont Village Urban Corridor better aligns with the vision for the corridor.

The Belmont Village Urban Corridor Study project team invites you to take part in one of three “Walkshops” for the Belmont Village Urban Corridor Study!
Register now
A walkshop is a walking workshop to observe, discuss, ask questions, and generate ideas about Belmont Avenue as it grows and evolves over time. The goal is to ask questions and better understand what the project team looks at when evaluating the corridor. Some of the themes that will be explored during each of the walkshops include:
- Streetscape/Public Realm (e.g.: street trees, street furniture)
- Active Transportation and Traffic (e.g.: sidewalks, bike lanes, connectivity to the Iron Horse Trail)
- Retail Environment and Services (e.g.: commercial retail uses along Belmont Avenue West)
To ensure that as many people as possible are able to participate, the same walkshop engagement will be offered on 3 different dates at three different times:
- Wednesday October 26th 6:30-8:00pm
- Saturday October 29th 10:00-11:30am
- Friday November 4th 9:30-11:00am
The walkshops will begin at Raddatz Park and proceed up Belmont Avenue West to Union Boulevard. Established stopping points will occur along the way.
To ensure adequate materials and provide the best experience for all, we encourage you to register for one of the walkshops. Register now
We hope you will join us!
